**A mousemaid approaches the red sandstone building cautiously as she stares up at it in awe. Though she had been here times before, it never failed to amaze her as she caught her first glimpse of the abbey. This time, however, this place was keeping a special treasure hidden within these walls: her heart. She had the latest letter from him hidden within her robes, remembering his parting words: "I feel as if you are here with me with each letter you send." Little did he know how close she would be!**

**Rose looks up at the walls, but she doesn't see the otter above. Pausing, she gathers her courage and then marches up to the gate resolutely.**

**She bangs on the door with the top of her staff.**

**Looks up quizzically for a moment. Had Redwall fallen after all? From his letter, Taln had said that the Redwallers had been victorious, but something might have happened in the meantime. She decided to trust her instincts instead of her doubts.**
"Perhaps I should leave then. Oh, and would you tell Taln Stormpaw that Rose stopped by? I'm sure that he won't be that interested, but..."

I don't know what's happening. The vermin have just disappeared in the middle of the battle and everything has just screeched to a halt. It's strange, I tell you...

"It does seem strange. Which side was winning at the time? If you were, they may have been discouraged. Then again, if I know vermin, and I've seen more than a lifetime's worth, they may be waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack."
