::Speechless for a moment, she puts two and two together (almost); She thinks to herself: :: Abbey? . . . . Oh, no, he couldn't mean the Red Castle . . . Even if they ARE harboring theives, they can't . . . . it's just . . . . ::She looks back, horrified, at the three little ones, laughing and playing and seemingly not knowing what's going on. Her heart pounding, she realizes: :: Oh, no, I've got to get those girls out of here!

::Turning back to the guard, she smiles a bit and says, offhandedly: :: "W . . . well, it's good that those thieves are getting what they deserve, then; these girls don't deserve to live near scoundrels such as those . . . " ::puts a paw to her belly, as if suddenly getting a reminder to eat from her stomach:: "Oh, um, by the way, are there any blueberry bushes around these parts? I'm dying to show the girls how to make some honey-glazed blueberry scones, and I'd love it if they could help me with them so that they'd be ready for their Uncle Ducky when he gets back . . . "::turns and smiles to the girls, she calls out to them:: "Wouldn't that be fun, girls?"

**The girls all look up, then start jumping up and down**
Yeah! Can we? Can we?
**He smiles at them and scraches his head, then turns back to her**
Of course, I'm sure one of our track'rs would be happy to show you 'em, as soon as the storm clears up. It's still comin' down too hard for you and the little ones to go out. If'n you're hungry, I c'n have some food brought to you.

::Trying not to look disappointed as a roll of thunder accompanies a torrent of rain against the tent, she laughs and smiles:: "Ah, ahem, yes, I guess I'm letting my stomach do the talkin'; you're right, this is no weather to be bringing the girls out into, perhaps early tomorrow, then . . . " ::turning to the girls:: "Well, what do you say? Tomorrow, we can wake up really, really early, and if it's not rainin', we'll gather up some nice big blueberries and make some special scones for Uncle Ducky and all of your other Uncles and Aunts here . . . It'll be a surprise!" ::She turns to the guard, pretending to act giddy with excitement:: "Oh, but you can't tell anyone yet, please? I'd want this to be a surprise." ::thinks:: "If you know where the blueberries are, could you show us? I'd want as few beasts to know about it as possible, " ::wink, she says fondly and quietly:: "You know, for the girls . . . it'd be more fun for them."

**He opens the tent flap**
That sounds real nice, miss! I'll come and get ye tomorrow morning, then. But you'll excuse me, 'case I still got things to do.
**he heads back out into the pouring rain, closing the flap behind him. A few minutes later, a fox noses his way in with a tray containing four bowls of soup and a loaf of dark bread. He grins at Kamy, then looks at the girls**
You girls SURE you don't want to try any meat?
NO!
C'mon, have some wood pigeon, it'll put fur on yer tails!
**The three girls burst out into a torrent of giggles**
**He grins at Kamy again, then hands her the tray and steps back outside**

::She calls out after the guard, smiling: :: "Oh, thank you so much, we can't wait!" ::she laughs at the antics of the squirrelmaids behind her; she gratefully accepts the fox's offering of food:: "Oh, thank you kindly . . . I'll take that . . . whoa, there, girls, calm down, I've got to set this down . . . . Thanks, thanks again . . . " ::she smiles at the fox, setting down the tray on a bed; she looks at the squirrelmaids around her, fondly, not knowing what to do, if what she wanted to do was the right thing or not. After the meal (and hours of playing), the girls and the mousemaid go to bed to await the morning::

**The girls get to sleep happily, Mapuana latched onto Kamy's leg, snoring happily. Outside, the storm is subsiding**

::Before the sun peers over the horizon, Kamy wakes and eases gently from the grasp of the squirrelmaid latched on her leg, making sure not to wake her; she gathers her things in a little knapsack, including a large but fairly thin blanket; she also manages to find four baskets. She waits for the guide to come along, letting the girls sleep until he arrives::

**The rat from the day before shows up, bow tucked over his shoulder, wearing a haversack**
....*ahem* WAKE UP, LITTLE 'UNS!
**The three girls dart awake, quite agitated, throwing pillows at him and driving him into the corner**
Argh! I surrender! Cease, yon evil beasts!

::laughing, fights her way through the torrents of pillows and feathers flying about and greets the rat:: " . . . hehe, so it seems the girls aren't the morning type, eh?" ::purposefully louder so the girls can hear:: "That's too bad . . . berry picking is most fun as the sun rises!" ::playfully sighing:: "I suppose we're just going to have to go without you three . . . " ::smiles::

**The rat pats her on the shoulder happily as the girls race to get dressed. He speaks to her in a hushed tone**
Ah, yer good with the lil' uns, miss.
**The three girls assemble and jump around**
Let's go! Let's go!
**As they head out towards the woods, a tracker from the camp follows them in secret, figuring he'll make sure the little ones don't get lost and see to it no snakes bother them**

::Unaware of the tracker, she continues on with the group, continuing pleasant conversation with the rat as the morning blooms; she scouts for berries, keeping an eye on the girls as she talks to the rat:: "So . . . I'm sorry, I didn't ask for your name before . . . but, thanks for your help, the girls and I really appreciate it . . . " ::she steps over a fallen twig, careful not to trip::

Aw, it's no problem, miss, most of the boys at camp would love to have berry duty. M'names Hackbone, you can just call me Hack.
**The rat lifts each of the little girls over a small stream, then looks to Kamy, asking if she'll need help crossing. A large grove of berry bushes starts on the other side.**

::taking a few steps back, makes a running jump over the little stream with ease; smiles back at Hack:: "Thanks, anyway . . . " ::she runs after the girls, excited about the berries, and starts picking them into the little baskets, sneaking a few berries into her mouth as well. With a mouthful of blueberry, she says: :: "Mmph, goo' stuf . . . "

**smirking, the rat sits by the stream, letting his feet and tail flop into the water**
Ah, tha's nice. You girls don't wander off, now, stay by miss Kamy.
((You can control the girls for now, if you like.))
